Two situations drive most liner work in the GTA. The first is a cracked or missing clay tile liner in an older chimney, found during an inspection or after a chimney fire. The second is common in Toronto homes: a high-efficiency furnace is installed and vents out the side of the house, leaving the gas water heater alone in a large masonry flue it can't heat. The exhaust cools, condenses and eats the mortar from the inside.
A properly sized stainless steel liner fixes both. For wood stoves and inserts we install an insulated liner connected directly to the appliance; for water heaters, a liner sized to the heater. The camera inspection that found the problem is repeated after installation so you can see the finished run.
